Gajraj

The Product
Gajraj is cast in solid brass, trunk lifted mid-stride, a diamond-lattice caparison covering his back dozens of individually finished motifs, each catching light a little differently depending on where you stand. The weight is deliberate: brass, this is not resin, so the piece signals its own quality before a word is read about it.

The Tradition

The elephant with its trunk raised has stood at entrances across Indian tradition for centuries echoed in Airavata, Indra's own mount, and in the elephants that led royal processions as symbols of welcome rather than warning. In Vastu Shastra, India's own centuries-old spatial design tradition, the entrance is treated as the point that sets the tone for the home beyond it which is why a trunk-raised elephant, facing inward, has long held its place there.

The Placement
Position Gajraj just inside your entrance, trunk facing into the room rather than toward the wall. For a workspace marking a new venture, the same posture works at a desk, facing the door.

Instructions
Do not clean with soap, chemicals, or any abrasive cleaner. Wipe only with a dry cloth, or plain water if needed, to keep the brass shining for years to come.
